This reference CD from Studios Berlin features Prussian regimental marches and field music from the age of the Soldier-King Friedrich Wilhelm I, who built the Prussian army into the formidable instrument used to such effect by his illustrious son, Frederick the Great.

The productions of Studios Berlin are based on exhaustive research of period military music scores in former ducal- and royal libraries throughout Germany, and often include premier recordings of pieces once presumed lost or totally forgotten.

All selections are performed in period arrangements by the Ensemble Christian Blüggel in the style employed by Prussian Army musicians of the eighteenth century. The CD is accompanied by a 20-page illustrated booklet with German and English text.
