JUBAL-Musikverlag's Deutsche Marschmusik series presents the definitive collection of military music performances by the Musikkorps der Schutzpolizei Berlin and its legendary conductor, Obermusikmeister Heinz Winkel (1914-1962).
Heinz Winkel's performances are known for their percussive beat and strong brass sections. He studied music at the Berlin Conservatory from 1940 to 1943, after which he assumed the post of director of the Polizei-Einsatzmusikkorps I at Breslau, where he remained until 1945.
Winkel became the first postwar conductor of the Musikkorps der Schutzpolizei Berlin, which was reestablished on 14 December 1948 by order of the Police President of the three western sectors of the former German capital. He held that post until his untimely death in 1962.
